Sealed, Expunged & Restricted

Jasper County Sheriff's Office changed its audited records process in January 2024. A formal law-enforcement FOIA request must go to SheriffDiscovery@jaspercountysc.gov with the completed form and a state-issued ID. The main page also mentions walk-in and phone help, but the newer records page makes email the formal submission route. Use 843-726-7779 to identify the file or request an accommodation, then send the statutory request as directed.
For a record no more than 24 months old, the posted notice period is ten business days, followed by up to thirty additional calendar days to provide an available record. Older files use the longer statutory window. Search, retrieval, redaction, and electronic-transfer labor is posted at $15 per hour, payable before release, and paper copies are listed at $0.50 per page. The same page contains an unexplained $8-per-page line, so ask the office what record type it covers before relying on it.
Narrow requests by incident number, names, date range, location, and desired format. Sheriff reports do not cover Hardeeville or Ridgeland police files. Those stay with the city agency that created them.
